Easy Summer Recipe: Fermented Peppers
If you're dealing with LOTS of fresh peppers right now, why not try some fermenting? This is so easy you won't believe it.
This one is so easy it’s barely even a recipe…
Here’s how to do it:
Get your peppers! Any will do. Chop 'em up, stuff them tightly in a half gallon jar, dissolve about 2 generous tablespoons of salt in a cup of water and pour it over the peppers, then add more water to fill the jar until it covers the vegetables. If the water is good and salty (almost too salty to taste…add more if needed) you're good to go.
Then, lace a grape leaf or a black tea bag on the top to cover the veggies and put a lid on it. Turn the jar upside down a few times to make sure the salt is dispersed, then place it on your counter (out of sunlight) and wait about three days.
Give it a taste! If you like it, put it in the fridge and enjoy chilled. These are so tasty and good for you!!
You can also add onion, garlic, herbs, etc. in the jar. Play around with it!
Also, aren't they pretty?
