Redefining Rich & Radical Homemaking: A Different Perspective on The Good Life
...plus some other seasonal goodies for April!
We are always trying to scramble to the top because we feel that's the only way that we are fulfilling our promise and that we are making it… But if you start to realize, you know what? I just need enough. I need enough to feel inspired to do my work, and there will be enough to live on—then that's an abundance mentality.
~Shannon Hayes
As we so often say, one of the reasons we love hosting The Good Dirt Podcast is because of what it brings to us in our own lives, and the joy it brings us to share that with you. This week with guest Shannon Hayes, author of Redefining Rich, is yet another example of the many meaningful and thought provoking conversations that enhance our daily journey. We’ve both been reflecting on the questions that Shannon raises in her book and during our discussion with her:
What is true wealth?
What are the things that we value the most for our desired quality of life?
Where do we stop seeking more— and realize that we have enough?
Listen in to this episode for an exploration of these ideas and more, as well as some super practical tips when it comes to creating a multiple source income.
We hope you enjoy it!
It’s a new season in the garden —and the Planting by the Signs of the Moon Calendar is back!
We’re excited to bring back some weekly takes!
This week, we prepped for a family gathering at the farm, started some seeds in the new greenhouse (more on that later!), and mourned the ending of The White Lotus.

I saw and loved this post this week from the National Gallery of Art. I learned about the artist Lilly Martin Spencer, one of the first American women painters to make a name for herself at a time when art was considered a man’s pursuit. She also depicted homemakers as main characters with rich inner lives. This especially struck me as I now find myself new mother/homemaker/part-time worker/full-time creative pursuit chaser.

Our family celebrates the spring season with these lovely naturally dyed Easter Eggs. Yes, eggs are expensive this year—but for those of you who want to keep this tradition— consider how you can balance out that cost by skipping the egg dyeing kit and using materials that you already have. Our little one isn’t old enough to understand it quite yet, but he can delight in the beautiful colors, the sensation of a smooth egg in his hand and what it feels like when he explores it with his mouth!
Enjoy this lush and lovely month of April!
